Mindset is everything -- How we perceive the world around us and show gratitude in our lives, directly impacts our ability to live with a mindset of abundance. With Thanksgiving being right around the corner, I thought I'd be seasonable in sharing a gratitude practice that you can easily incorporate into your daily life!
Let’s pause for a moment and recognize a few aspects of your immediate life to be grateful for, such as the air you are capable of breathing, the screen you are viewing this blog on, the knowledge you possess to comprehend my words. Simplicities that have come together in this very instant to allow you to be here. Fully here and alive. That is conscious gratitude.
Don’t get me wrong, I know it can be much easier said than done at times. We all have trials and tribulations in this life, but I firmly believe that your life is what you make of it. When it feels hard to see the good, focus on the small things -- focus on what you do have. Not on what you don't.
Practicing gratitude in your daily life can stem from the most minute facet of your day -- the action of framing your mindset to appreciate the small stuff, is the key to living a life of grateful intent!
The Linguistic Shift
We all have the ability to alter our internal dialogue in such a way that frames our outlook on life to be one of optimism and appreciation. A linguistic shift is using the power of words to bring awareness and positive affirmations into our everyday speech. This can be as simple as saying, “I get to go to the gym” versus “I need to go to the gym”, or "I am healthy" versus "I want to be healthy". Phrasing your dialogue in this way is you taking ownership over what you have and how you show up in this life. It is empowering and self-motivating to express gratitude in all that you are, have, and get to do.
Simply changing the words you use can have a grand impact on the connections your mind makes surrounding how you get to spend each day of your life. This is a key component to practicing gratitude and giving thanks daily for all you have. To live a life of abundance is to recognize that you alone, already have what it takes.
Shifts you can make today:
I need to → I want to
I have to → I get to
I want to be → I am
There is vigor in our words and how we communicate them to the world through our internal dialogue, and to those around us. Taking action in making these linguistic shifts will let you appreciate all that your life has to offer you, and all you have to offer it.
Practicing Gratitude
Ready to begin? Start off small, and make a list of what you are immediately grateful for.
Take a moment, close your eyes, and breathe. Now put pen to paper or finger to phone -- any which way you desire -- and let it flow.
Or maybe you're not one to write it out, and that's okay! Allowing yourself to merely make mental note of what you're appreciative of, to give yourself space to embrace the blessings of your life, that is still a shift towards conscious gratitude.
Aspects of Life I am Currently Grateful for:
A loving and supportive family -- the ability to spend quality time with them.
Friendships that foster growth and deep connection -- being accepted for all that I am.
My mental and physical health -- having access to resources that aid in my wellbeing.
The clients I get to hold space in my heart for daily -- my business and how it fuels my soul.
A deep understanding of how to frame my mindset -- leading a life of intent and gratitude around abundance, growth, and positive affirmations.
Freedom to share my knowledge and passions -- attracting individuals that are aligned with my purpose.
There is no better time than right now, to appreciate the beauty that exists in each moment. The intricacies of our minds can be harnessed in such a way that boosts our mental health by taking a new perspective of it all.
Let this season be the catalyst for a life filled with gratitude -- do all things with purpose and never forget that the power is always within you. We are the creators of our realities.
