I love experimenting in the kitchen. Especially when it involves chocolate! Protein powder and cacao are two pantry staples that I always have on hand to play around with. One of my favorite recipes so far is my protein hot chocolate. It’s seriously happiness in a mug.
Fun fact about me, I rarely follow recipes. I like to tweak my ingredients a bit depending on what I’m in the mood for that day. You’ll notice I add quite a few optional ingredients to my recipes. That’s because I want you to get creative and have fun with it! Make it your own and let me know what your favorite variations are.
Protein Hot Chocolate
Ready in 5 minutes
Serves 1 person
Ingredients
1-1½ c non-dairy milk of choice. For an extra creamy variation, use oat milk or Ripple.
1 serving of chocolate protein of choice (I LOVE NuZest because it’s vegan, gluten free, and super clean. The ingredients are simple so your gut will love it too. You can purchase yours here for 15% off with my discount "ERICAJADE15")
1T raw cacao powder
Sprinkle of sea salt
Optional add-ins:
1tsp maca root powder (for an energy boost)
Dash of cinnamon (for natural sweetness and blood sugar support)
1 scoop Collagen powder
2 medjool dates (for added sweetness)
Handful of cashews (soak in hot water for 30 mins or so before blending to soften if needed)
Preparation
Blend desired ingredients together until smooth. I use my Ninja blender because it’s great for single servings and easy to clean.
Heat over the stove or in the microwave for 2 minutes or until warm. Be careful not to overcook.
Top with cinnamon, non-dairy whipped cream, or a candy cane if you’re feeling fancy!
